I have been attempting to investigate how the function of Mail file quotas works in NotesR6, and have come up with an anomoly... but first I will describe my test setup:
Server set to respect Mail delivery quotas.
Options are:
Over Warning threshold not.: Per Message
Over Quota not.: Per Message
Over Quota enforcement: NDR to originator
Admin user has no quotas on his mail mailfile.
Quota User1 has a 45 MB warning threshold, and a 50 MB Size limit (46,080 KB, and 51,200 KB, resp.)
Admin sends email to Quota User1 until about 45 MB.
The next message, which exceeds the warning threshold, but does not exceed size limit delivers the message, and a warning email.
The Next Message which exceeds the database size limit I get a Quota Error notification email (expected) and a NDR to the originator.
So far, so good, but here's where it gets weird..
I wanted to see if I got the Quota Error Message (which I DO want to get) if the mail size space is all taken up to 100%. (The previous Quota Error Email did not deliver a multi-MB email, and left a few megs free until quota violation)
So I keep sending small attachments to the Quota User1 account until he is at 100% used.. except I can still send him email if the message is small enough...
But I can send this guy 2KB messages until the cows come home, and only get the Warning Threshold email. If I try to send him a 4KB message, it fails, and I get the Quota Error email.
So pretty much what I can ascertain is that Quotas work MUCH better than they did with R5 - the threshold/quota emails work exactly like they're supposed to... the only bug seems to be I can still exceed the quota by sending lots of little emails. So, Great Job, Iris (or whatever you guys are called now), but just need a little more.
